Course
Description :
This course is an integral part of the Atlântico Golfe Hotel
on the sandy beach near to the fishing port of Peniche.
As to be expected on this Links type course there are sufficient
sand hazards to entertain the player.
The longest hole is the par-5 fifth of 429 meters, and the
shortest is the par-3 sixth of 143 meters. Lakes have also
been constructed for the wayward ball, especially on the
par-4 first hole. |

There
are plans to build nine more holes, though the existing
nine holes, however, have different setting off tees, which
means a second round, quite different from the first, can
already be played. It is truly worth a game overlooking
the Atlantic Ocean, Consolação Fort, Peniche, Cape Carvoeiro
and Berlengas. The fact that the course has been built around
a juniper grove adds to its unusual beauty. The course has
clear "link" characteristics, and is demanding of players,
especially in short shots, as the juniper wood has to be
preserved and so balls may be lost.

This
resort was inaugurated in June 97 and is located right in
the middle of the "Costa de Prata", just a few kilometres
away from the historical medieval village of Óbidos and
the Óbidos lagoon, in an extremely beautiful environment,
facing the Atlantic ocean and the natural park of the Berlengas
islands, and only one hour by car from the centre of Lisbon.
American
golf architect Cabell Robinson, using a combination of magnificent
see views, astonishing clips and dunes, along with luxuriant
pine woods, created an exciting and majestic golf course
with 18 holes, a par 72, with 6,625 metres, that is, an
authentic "links" which will delight all golf enthusiasts
and represent a challenge for players with a lower handicap.
The
golf course at Praia D'El Rey also features a club house,
which offers several facilities such as: restaurant and
bar, private zone for club members, pro-shop, indoor pool,
health club, large balconies overviewing the golf course
and ocean, training courses and two putting-greens.
