There are events all the year round in Cascais. A few examples are the International Dog Show, the Fashion Festival, the Jazz Festival, the Sea Festival. Bullfights start from Easter, and there are Markets around the arenas every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

More sights in Cascais:

- The Nossa Senhora da Guia Chapel, situated beside the lighthouse of the same name, on the road towards Guincho. It has a 16th century gate.

- The Town Hall. This building was the residence of the Count da Guarda, its front is decorated with azulejos panels with beautiful frames which represent S.Sebastião, S.António, S.Marcos, S.Marçal, S.Jerónimo, S.Mateus, S.Lucas and S.João.

- Museu Dos Condes de Castro Guimarães
On the road bordering the sea after the "Mouth of Hell". This museum is located in the "da Gandarinha" Park (a very pleasant park) which was inaugurated in 1932. The building was bought by Count Castro Guimarães in 1910, who restored it and then gave it to the city and the people of Cascais. The collections include china, carpets, pieces of Portuguese furniture, Indo-Portuguese azulejos, gold plated objects, ceramics, books. It is also interesting to see the archaeological vestiges which go back to prehistory, and of course, the library containing more than 25 000 books (open to the public).
In the museum's park there is also the small chapel dedicated to S. Sebastião, with azulejos going back to the 17th century.

- The Sea Museum
This museum has several themes: Natural history, Ethnology and Marine Archaeology. There is also a vast collection of objects related to the sea. Open 10:00 to 17:00, every day except Mondays and public holidays.

After Cascais, the road is along the coast, you continue towards Estoril, it is very close. Estoril is now a very well known city thanks to its Casino, the largest in Europe, and also thanks to its cosmopolitan life which attracts rich, elegant, national and international customers. There are a lot of beautiful villas built at the beginning of the century, some of which belonged to famous people because the city was very popular with noble families and even high middle-class women who stayed there during the summer "to take the waters" in the thermal baths which existed then and will soon re-open.

Casino de Estoril

During WorldWar I and even before, deposed dictators and noble families in exile were accepted there by Salazar, and the artists in general also came to Estoril. All these characters left their signatures on the honor books in several hotels of the town. In the museum beside the post office, you can find a lot of documentation, photographs, letters, maps... that tell us about the "Golden Age" in Estoril, as well as the people who lived there: the Count of Barcelona and his family, Juan Carlos the King of Spain, Edward VIII from England and Wallis Simpson, King Carol of Romania, the Count of Paris, Humbert from Italy, Saint Exupéry and several others...

All this area that includes Cascais and Estoril is located close to Lisbon and the temperature is very pleasant there: approximately 28° in summer, and it seldom goes down below10° in winter, which is one of the many good reasons why people from abroad decide to live there.

The seashore is beautiful, there are loads of possibilities of different water sports and the climate makes it possible to practise them all year round: 7 golf courses, swimming pools, tennis, horse riding, fishing, car racing, sailing, boat racing.

There are high standard hotel establishments which continue to attract rich and famous people as well as world wide companies who organize conventions and business meetings on a world level. There is an airfield close by.

Estoril

During the whole year there are events that attract many people, and there is a relaxed and refined atmosphere: a must is the Casino which is a significant animation pole and offers all kinds of games, as well as daily shows and scheduled ones that are more specific. There is also an art gallery where you can see exhibitions all year round.

In Estoril there is a local fair during August and July, in the park behind the Casino, and a Music festival.

At the exit of Estoril take the road in the direction of Sintra and then Ericeira.
