- Do Outão Fortress
It is situated in front of the Sado river and dates back to 1390. Thanks to its strategic situation it was restored several times. In 1890 the fortress was made into a royal palace where D.Carlos and D.Amélia often stayed, then in 1900 it was made into a sanatorium. It is now a hospital.

- Setúbal's museum situated in the Gothic cloister of the convent. This museum contains a large collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture, silver, archaeology, numismatics, bibliography as well as azulejos.

Setúbal has seen a collection of several famous historic people: sailors, navigators, politicians, artists, and among others the poet Bocage (1765-1805) and the lyric singer Luísa Todi (1753-1833).

The Sado estuary is a 23 160 ha Natural Reserve dedicated to the preservation of the countryside: vegetation, birds, fish, shellfish, mollusks, and even human traditional craftsmanship.

Then, you leave Setúbal and take the road towards Palmela (20 mn). The city is 200 m high in altitude, on the North hillside of the Arrábida mountain, at the foot of its castle.
