TRAVEL
:
Travelling in Portugal
is quite simple ; being a small country makes it easy to
get almost everywhere relatively easy. There are several
options available : buses, car rental, trains, planes, bicycles
and the metros in Lisbon.
Flights inside
Portugal are expensive given the short distances. Trains
and buses are always cheaper.
The Portuguese
railway system " Caminhos de Ferro Portuguese (CP) " is
state owned and the service provided is usually quick, efficient,
comfortable and surprisingly cheap.
For buses you can
choose between the national network " Rodoviaria Nacional
(RN) and numerous privatised coach companies. The RN tends
to be slower but the prices are lower. Private operators
run a quick non-stop service on the most popular routes
and cover destinations where there are no trains.
If you prefer a
more flexible option, car rental allows you to have total
freedom with the advantage that you can pick it up at any
of the major airports.
